Described by its London-based designers (Expedition Engineering and Useful Studios) as sustainable, elegant and efficient, this footbridge was created to connect Chiswick Park Business Campus with Chiswick Park station.
Our role in the project was to provide and construct the steelwork for this impressive 120 metre weathering grade steel footway.

The three-span arched footbridge spans the railway line, road and nature reserve and is only the second network arch footbridge to have been constructed in Europe to date.
With our team’s vast experience building bridges, such as the Ordsall Chord in Manchester, this project was a great opportunity for us to demonstrate our capabilities as the UK’s leading structural steel engineer.
Sustainability ratings and success
This project was designed with carbon in mind and as such, the integral arch proposal reduces the embodied carbon. This was achieved through efficient use of materials and maximises off-site fabrication, reducing waste and improving quality and safety.
