Graduate Design Engineer

How was your first day?

On my first day, I was introduced to the first multi-million-pound project of my career. I was quite nervous about being thrown into the deep end, but this was not the case at all. There are a number of experienced people around who provided me with the relevant guidance and training. I soon found out that as well as being top-class mentors, they’re a great laugh to be around.

What do you enjoy most about working at Severfield?

I enjoy consistently working on large-scale, complex projects. There are no two projects the same, and I get to work on them from design through to construction, meaning I get to see my drawings come to life.

What does an average day look like?

An average day at Severfield can be hard to predict. You could be designing a state-of-the-art structure or watching your design scheme come to life to build the newest stadium. As you experience a variety of roles at Severfield, what your average day looks like can be up to you.

What would you say to someone thinking of applying for a Graduate Scheme?

Do you like a challenge and want to play a part in engineering some of the most impressive structures in the UK? Do you want to gain a thorough understanding of how to construct one of these projects from design through to construction? If so, apply for a role at Severfield, as you won’t get an opportunity like this elsewhere.
