The Financial Times listing, compiled by research company Statista, details impressive corporate progress in fighting climate change, it also underlines the scale of the challenges still confronting business leaders and politicians.
Severfield were 1 of only 300 companies across Europe to make the list, recognising companies across a wide range of industries that achieved the greatest reduction in their greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions intensity between 2014 and 2019. Emissions intensity is defined as tonnes of emissions of CO2-equivalent per €1m of revenue.
Ranking at an impressive second place in the UK Construction industry, Severfield boasts a notable carbon reduction intensity of 13.5% within the period. Sara Halliday, Group Sustainability Manager said “This recognition is testament to the hard work of all of those who have been involved in our Smarter, Safer, more Sustainable business improvement program over the past few years. Considerable time and effort has been put into reducing our emissions, from process and machine efficiencies at our factories, material and fuel management on our construction sites, to waste management in our offices.”
We’re still working hard to continue reducing our emissions, with more exciting projects and news to come later in the year. If you have any suggestions, or questions about our sustainability strategy please get in touch with sara.halliday@severfield.com
